I would love to get there, Pat. Maybe someday. My grandfather was overshadowed by my gregarious Irish Nana, but we would have been lost without him. What a quietly courageous, indomitable man. As I get older I miss him more, realizing his quality.
I hear you loud and clear. I fiercely miss my Sligo grandparents and would love to have them here to "interrogate." The short story I wrote for an Irish romance anthology was based on the true story of how my grandfather came to America (minus the fairies). I miss him and wish he were here to tell me more about life under the landlord in pre-1916 Ireland. Thanks again for sharing your priceless heritage.
What a lovely part of the world! A seafaring community for sure. Loved the peonies. Thanks for sharing.
